10:32 am - And we ride

It's not me you're dying for
now she's feeling more alone
than she ever has before

sometimes i get the feeling that i wont
be on this planet
for very long

this is why
i'd rather be alone

just a group of depressing ben folds lyrics for you. they just popped into my head.

I'm going to see Ben tonight, yay and all that, but my question is, does anyone know if he is touring with an opening band on this tour? None of the information I have seen or read has given me any indication as to who is opening. I guess the other option is he does not have an opener and is just going to play for 2 hours or so, which I would not mind in the least. While I know most of you probably don't live in Houston, you might have gone to an earlier show in the tour. Anyway, does anyone know?

So. I really want to stencil a Ben Folds/Five shirt for my friend's birthday. AND, seeing as you're all like minded folk, I was after, y'know, ideas. Or if anyone has any stecils they want to show me, I'd be extremely grateful.

I'm after the piano from the CD of the Ben Folds Five self-titled, or the piano/bass/drum ones from Whatever and Ever. Or a lyric to put on. Or anything easy, really.

I was just watching Letterman, and Jon Stewart was on. As they went into commercial, and as they came out, they played The Battle of Who Could Care Less. Guess that fits.

8:21 pm - The best of solo Ben

Ok. Favourite Ben Folds tracks. So none of the five or anything like that.

To get the ball rolling, I was totally arrested by 'Still Fighthing It' the other day. It has such a poigniancy to it, along with the usual amount of sincerity that I find runs through all of Ben's songwriting. The line "you're so much like me, i'm sorry" just seems beautiful and simple.

Alright, enough of me, what about the rest of you?

just thought i'd do a little retrospective here - it's been a solid few months since Ben released Songs For Silverman and the accompanying tour. Just wondered what everyone's thoughts and memories are on the new album? For me the album has very much been a slow burner - at first I only liked a few tracks, mainly bastard, time and jesusland. But everytime I played the album a new track seemed to jump out at me in a way it hadn't before - a good example being 'Gracie', which I at first thought was a pale imitation of 'Still Fighting It', but seemed to get lodged in my head after a few more listens. Now, upon reflection I love just about every moment of Songs for Silverman - it's a slow record, but much more thoughtful and atmospheric than say 'Rockin' The Suburbs'. Thoughts?

2:37 am - Ben in Milwaukee

Saw Ben Folds at Summerfest in Milwaukee tonight. It was an awesome show. This year he was at a bigger stage than he had been at in previous year...which was cool. I was wondering if anyone got an good pictures they could share...my digital camera sucked.
